A while back I mentioned !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and this is coming along nicely I think! In total, buying the Toshiba HD XA-2 (absolute best HD-DVD player ever produced, that used to cost 800$ when new and that still usually cost around 150/200$ normally) + 83 movies shipped all the way to Japan, I’ve spent, shipping included, a grand total of $142. Some movies are still of their way.
I don’t think it can get any cheaper than that... I’ll be going to Detroit and Montreal for 3 weeks at the end of August, so if you guys have HD-DVD movies you’d like to get rid of, let me know, if they are are somewhat watchable (my standards are pretty low), and very cheap, I’d buy them and have them shipped to Detroit or Montreal depending on where you live.
Let me know!

Nice!
Dead formats are the best formats!

So where’s all the laserdisc?

Not too far from the HD-DVDs, in need of a proper shelf for them :(
We’re moving out fairly soon, so we don’t want to set everything up the way it’s supposed to be :)

Indeed they are :) (that and the absolute cheapest ones, which helps a lot haha)

What about HD-VHS tho

Not really interested in them. It’s not a format I’ve drooled on when I was younger (laserdiscs) or that I simply ignored at the time but that is so cheap with great quality today, that it has become worth collecting (HD-DVD)
:)

Yeah, as far as obscure formats go they pretty much take the cake. 60fps @ 1080p with surround sound is a pretty damn cool experience though from an analog medium.

It was very much digital though... tape based but digital :)

you cannot have a proper collection until you have this:
I have an A35 player and a LG dual HD-DVD/BLU-RAY drive on one of my computers.
